OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE D’AGUANNO
This coming
Saturday (July 7), OperaVision is offering a video-stream of Donizetti's
"Lucia di Lammermoor" in a recent performance from Madrid. As always
with this website, the video will be available for several months afterwards.
If Wagner
happens to be your composer-of-choice on Saturday, you may want to tune in to
Radio 3 (BBC) for a performance from last month of "Lohengrin." This
recent production was presented at London's Royal Opera House.
Then on
Sunday, there's even more Wagner on hand, with the LIVE video-stream from
Munich of "Parsifal." This one features the same cast that was heard
a short while back (audio-only), namely Jonas Kaufmann as Parsifal, Nina Stemme
as Kundry, and Rene Pape as Gurnemanz.
Two of the
operas being performed at this summer's Aix-en-Provence Festival make their
appearance on French Radio's schedules for Monday & Tuesday, with a LIVE
performance of Mozart's "Magic Flute" being available on Monday,
followed by the world premiere of Czech composer Ondrej Adamek's opera
"Seven Stones." To whet one's appetite, it has been announced that 2
video-streams from this same festival are scheduled for later this month:
namely, Richard Strauss's "Ariadne auf Naxos" on July 11 and
Prokofiev's "Fiery Angel" on July 15.
Enjoy!
