OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE D’AGUANNO

With the summer opera festivals winding down, there aren't as many exciting new broadcasts to report at this time, but as always, the few items that are coming up should be well worth listening to. And actually, in the case of the OperaVision offering on Saturday (August 25), there's even one worth watching as well. As performed last October in Leeds (an Opera North production), we have a video-stream of Leonard Bernstein's "Trouble in Tahiti" which premiered in 1952.

Placido Domingo in Bizet's "The Pearl Fishers" in this summer's Salzburg Festival comes to us in a delayed broadcast of tomorrow's performance. In the baritone role of Zurga, Domingo can be heard on Saturday on ORF (Austria).

Wagner enthusiasts need not feel left out, however, as NPR continues its series of broadcasts of operas that were performed at Lyric Opera of Chicago last season. This time around it's one of the October 2017 performances of Wagner's "Das Rheingold."

Enjoy!

DAVE
