Great Performances at the Met

Jonas Kaufmann stars in Richard Eyre's production of Massenet's "Werther," about a poet whose feelings for the fair Charlotte (Sophie Koch) lead him to do the unthinkable, for she has another man on her mind: the honorable Albert (David Bizic).

OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE  D' AGUANNO

One of Rossini's lesser-known operas -- "Adelaide di Borgogna" -- appears on the schedule this coming Saturday (June 26). German Radio will be broadcasting this one in a performance from Wildbad which is actually taking place today (Wednesday).

On more familiar territory, there's a broadcast on NPR of Mozart's "Magic Flute." This Los Angeles Opera performance stems from a series of them which took place in late November/early December 2013, and stars tenor Lawrence Brownlee as Tamino. As some of you may remember, Brownlee was seen in two Rossini operas which were transmitted in HD from the Met a while back: "Cenerentola" & "Armida."

Beethoven's masterpiece "Fidelio" can be heard on Swedish Radio in a LIVE performance from this summer's Verbier Festival. You may want to check out Medici TV on your computer for a FREE video of this concert performance at http://www.medici.tv/

On Italian Radio (RAI), there's a performance of Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci" which comes to us via the San Carlo opera house in Naples (May 22, 2014).

And in case you missed it the first time around, ORF (in Austria) is giving us another opportunity to tune in to the March 2, 2014 performance from La Scala of Rimsky-Korsakov's deeply tragic opera "The Tsar's Bride" (Daniel Barenboim, conductor).

Enjoy!
