OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE  D' AGUANNO

Dave's new puppy, Dulcie
During these "dog days of summer", there aren't that many opera broadcasts of interest popping up on internet radio (although a few mid-week may have gotten past me, such as yesterday's LIVE broadcast from Montpellier of Leoncavallo's "Gli Zingari"). However, one can still encounter the occasional obscure opera being resurrected at certain summer opera festivals, one of them being Francesco Provenzale's 1674 opera "La Stellidaura Vendicante" ("The Vengeful Stellidaura") which was performed in Potsdam last month (June 16) and which can be heard on German Radio this coming Saturday.
On ORF this Saturday, there's a re-broadcast of Meyerbeer's "L'Africaine" which was performed in Venice this past November 2013. (Meyerbeer fans may be on the lookout for a video of this performance which may soon be issued on DVD.)
And on NPR, the series of broadcasts from the 2013/2014 season at Los Angeles Opera continues with one of everyone's favorites: Bizet's "Carmen" in a performance from September of last year.
Enjoy!
