OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE D’AGUANNO
This coming
Saturday (August 10), ORF (Austria) will be broadcasting the July 30th
performance of Luigi Cherubini's "Medee" (1797) from this summer's
Salzburg Festival.
Moving into
the 20th century, Stravinsky's "The Rake's Progress" can be heard on
German Radio in a May 27, 2019 performance from Dresden.
The big
news, however, for the many fans of the operas of Rossini? The main 3 operas
from this year's Rossini Festival in Pesaro are being broadcast on Radio 3
(RAI), all LIVE, with one of his major operas ("Semiramide") kicking
things off on Sunday (August 11). Then on Monday, it's a rare opportunity to
hear his very first opera ("Demetrio & Polibio") followed by
another early work on Tuesday: "L'Equivoco Stravagante" (from
1811).
Enjoy!
DAVE
