OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE D’AGUANNO
On Friday
(June 14), we have another opera coming to us on the internet from Genoa: It's
Puccini's "Madame Butterfly" and (once again) chances are that it
will be a LIVE video-stream.
Then on
Saturday, fans of tenor Juan Diego Florez may be excited over the prospect of
hearing him take on the leading tenor role in Massenet's "Manon" for
the first time in his career. ORF (Austria) is broadcasting the June 9th
performance of this opera, direct from the Vienna State Opera.
The Belgian
station Klara has scheduled the broadcast of a performance from last month of
Wagner's "Tristan & Isolde" in a production from Brussels. You
also have the option of actually watching the performance as well. (See the
video link below.)

Detlev
Glanert's newest opera (out of a total of eleven!) can be heard on German Radio
on Saturday. It's the world premiere of his opera "Oceane" as
performed in Berlin on May 17th of this year. (See also the video link if you'd
like to watch this opera's official trailer.)

Finally, on
Sunday, we have a rare opportunity of hearing "La Clemenza di Tito"
-- that is, "rare" in the sense that this is Gluck's version of the
opera which premiered in 1752, about 4 decades before Mozart's far more famous
work. The performance being broadcast actually took place in Leverkusen on November
3, 2013.
Enjoy!
DAVE

The work in question is “En Mis

2005. It follows the story of a 15-year-old Latina who struggles with
assimilating into American culture and leaving behind her Latino roots.
