As we head
into the first few weeks of summer, there's still plenty of opera to be enjoyed
on the internet. For example, tomorrow (Thursday) you can enjoy a LIVE audio
broadcast from Munich of Richard Strauss's "Salome" with the same
cast that will be performing this work in a LIVE video-stream that is scheduled
for July 6th.
Then on
Saturday we have more Offenbach on the schedule, though not as much as we had
last week. This time around it's his popular final opera "Tales of
Hoffmann" as performed in Naples this past March 17 and to be heard on
Radio 3 (RAI).
Fans of
Roberto Alagna and/or Sondra Radvanovsky will probably want to listen, instead,
to BBC Radio 3 for a recent performance from London of Giordano's most popular
work: "Andrea Chenier."
Then on
Sunday, we have two LIVE opera videos to choose from. Luckily, for those
interested in BOTH of them, they will be available for a limited time, even
after the LIVE video-streams being presented on Sunday. For fans of the music
of Massenet, you'll want to watch his opera "Cendrillon"
("Cinderella") as performed direct from this summer's Glyndebourne
Festival.
For those
who prefer operas that are definitely off-the-beaten-track, OperaVision will be
presenting a LIVE video-stream from the Poznan Opera House of Polish composer
Stanislaw Moniuszko's final opera "Paria" (1869).
