OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE D’AGUANNO

This week OperaVision once again has another opera video for us to enjoy. Tomorrow you can watch a June 2018 performance of Verdi's "Falstaff" in a Garsington Opera production.

Then on Saturday, you can watch a LIVE performance from the Met of Wagner's "Die Walkure" if you choose to attend the HD-transmission of the work in one of the local movie theatres that carry the Met HD-transmissions. Or you can listen in on one of the many internet radio stations that will transmit the audio version of the performance.

On the other hand, you may opt for the LIVE video-stream from Munich of Puccini's "La Fanciulla del West" with an interesting cast which includes Brandon Jovanovich in the leading tenor role of Dick Johnson.

Then again, if you're in a "Mozart mood" (so to speak), there's a broadcast from earlier this month on BBC Radio 3 of "The Magic Flute" in an Opera North (Leeds) production.

One of Tchaikovsky's most brilliant scores (which should probably be heard far more often) is that of "The Maid of Orleans." ORF (Austria) will be broadcasting the March 19th Viennese performance of the work.

Swiss composer Othmar Schoeck's opera "Das Schloss Durande" ("Durande Castle") gets another radio broadcast, being given some much-needed attention after the first fully complete version of the work (composed during World War II) wasn't heard until earlier this year. This time around, it's German Radio which is allowing us to hear this work, as performed in Meiningen on March 8.

Enjoy!

DAVE
