OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE D'AGUANNO

The German radio station Deutschland-Radio-Kultur has a special treat for those of you who may have been longing to hear what the first Italian opera ever performed in Dresden sounded like, as it presents Bontempi's 1662 "entertainment" (as it was called back then): "Il Paride" -- in a performance from Potsdam that was given on June 22 of this year.

Mozart aficionados may prefer to tune in to CBC Radio 2, as a performance from May 2010 of his opera "Idomeneo" will be broadcast. It's a Canadian Opera production.

In a lighter vein, there's Rossini's "Il Turco in Italia" which NPR has on hand for this Saturday, this particular performance originating from Los Angeles Opera in February of this year.

And for those of you who may have missed the opening night performance of Wagner's "Tannhauser" from this year's festival in Bayreuth, that very same July 25 performance is being re-broadcast on ORF.
