OPERA ON THE INTERNET WITH
DAVE D'AGUANNO
Tonight's opening night performance of John Adams's opera "Nixon in China" will be given a LIVE audio stream via the Met's Real Player. Simply log on to www.metopera.org & let "Watch & Listen" direct you to the proper link. This may be regarded as an audio preview of the Met's HD-transmission of this opera later this month. http://www.metoperafamily.org/stream.aspx
On Saturday afternoon (Feb. 5) most stations will be carrying the Met's LIVE performance of Verdi's "Simon Boccanegra" which many of you may have seen in area movie theatres last year. However, it's Dimitri Hvorostovsky who will be singing the title role (not Domingo) this time around.
Alternatively, one might prefer to listen to the less familiar "From the House of the Dead" of Leos Janacek, in a broadcast of tomorrow night's performance in Amsterdam.

Plus, Swedish Radio has a LIVE performance from Goteborg of Handel's "Alcina."

Or -- in case you missed it last summer - Rossini's rarely performed "Sigismondo" is being given a second broadcast on ORF. The performance stems from the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro this past summer & is scheduled to be released on DVD.

Then on Monday, Feb. 7, if you still haven't had your fill of opera this weekend -- & if you're really craving for yet another "La Boheme" -- Puccini's opera is being streamed LIVE on the Met's Real Player. http://www.metoperafamily.org/stream.aspx
Happy Listening!
