OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE  D' AGUANNO

Tonight at 7:25 pm, the Met will be broadcasting a LIVE performance of Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro." This is a FREE audio-stream which can be found on the Met's website.

Tomorrow it's Rossini's take on the Cinderella story -- "La Cenerentola" -- which can be heard in a LIVE performance from Turin. Radio 3 (RAI) is broadcasting that one.

As far as broadcasts on Saturday (March 19) are concerned, the Met continues their unofficial mini-Donizetti festival with a LIVE broadcast of "L'Elisir d'Amore" with tenor Vittorio Grigolo as the lovesick Nemorino.

In a far more serious vein, Debussy's beautifully atmospheric "Pelleas & Melisande" gets broadcast on Swedish Radio in a LIVE performance from Stockholm.

French Radio, on the other hand, will be airing last Friday's performance from Marseilles of Francesco Cavalli's "L'Oristeo" (1651).

Ferruccio Busoni's "Die Brautwahl" ("The Bridal Choice"), which premiered in 1912, can be heard on German Radio in a performance that actually took place in Berlin in November 1993.

Finally, Verdi enthusiasts need not despair, since a LIVE performance of "Un Ballo in Maschera" can be accessed on Saturday afternoon via a FREE video-stream being offered by the Bavarian State Opera (Munich), Look for Piotr Beczala in the leading tenor role.

Enjoy!
