OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE  D' AGUANNO

Most internet radio stations this Saturday (January 9) have scheduled the Met's LIVE broadcast of Donizetti's "Anna Bolena." Carried over from the cast that appeared in the HD-transmission of this opera back in 2011 are tenor Stephen Costello as Percy and bass Ildar Abdrazakov as Henry VIII. In the title role this time around it's soprano Sondra Radvanovsky who's also singing the lead soprano role this season in Donizetti's "Roberto Devereux." This versatile lady is also slated to sing Puccini heroines Manon Lescaut and Tosca later this season in Berlin, and then Verdi's Aida in Paris. Wow!

If Offenbach operettas are among your favorite forms of entertainment, you'll probably relish the idea of tuning in to French Radio for a rare performance of his 1872 work "Le Roi Carotte." And yes, it's about a carrot who becomes king -- or something like that. You can never tell with some of these Offenbach concoctions. In any case, it's the December 21, 2015 from Lyons that will be broadcast this Saturday.

More operetta is on tap for us: Tomorrow evening at 7:25, the Met's featured FREE live audio-stream is of "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss.

Enjoy!
