WITH
DAVE D' AGUANNO
Even though the Met's 2014/2015 broadcast
season has come to an end, there are still several opera broadcasts worth
noting on the schedule for this coming Saturday (May 16), one of
which is the LIVE broadcast of Karol Szymanowski's "King Roger"
(1926) from London's Royal Opera House, which can be heard on BBC Radio 3 and
SEEN on the new website Opera Platform. The performance should begin at around 2:30
pm, and you will note that links for both the audio and the visual
presentations are given here:
Audio only: www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/
Live Video-Stream: http://www.theoperaplatform.eu/en/opera/szymanowski-krol-roger
Another LIVE broadcast comes to us from Paris
via French Radio: Verdi's "Macbeth."
And more Verdi is on tap, as Swedish Radio
brings us the March 20, 2015 performance of "Aida" as presented by
the Malmo Opera.
Wagner enthusiasts need not despair, since
German Radio will be broadcasting a performance from Munich of "Das
Rheingold" (as given on April 24 of this year).
And, in a lighter vein, ORF has scheduled last
Friday's performance of Darius Milhaud's comedy "La Mere
Coupable" (1966). This particular performance took place in Vienna.
Enjoy!
