DAVE D' AGUANNO
Not too many choices are available this time around if you want to listen to LIVE opera performances, the major exception being the broadcast from Radio 3 (RAI) on Friday of Rameau's "Zoroastre" (1749, revised in 1756) which will be taking place in Montpellier.
On the other hand, if you happen to have missed it the first time around, German Radio is giving us another chance to hear George Enescu's "Oedipe" which was performed in London last month (June 4).
There's also a rare opportunity to tune in to ORF (Austria) to hear a repeat of the January 31, 2016 performance of Benjamin Godard's opera "Dante" (1890), an event that took place in Munich.
Plus, NPR is now beginning its series of broadcasts from Los Angeles Opera's 2015/2016 season with a double-bill featuring Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi" & Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci." Versatile musician Placido Domingo sings the title role in the Puccini opera, then takes to the podium to conduct the Leoncavallo work.
Enjoy!
