OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE  D' AGUANNO

This coming Saturday afternoon (November 21), opera-lovers who don't usually shy away from 20th century operas will probably be interested in attending the LIVE HD-transmission from the Met of Berg's "Lulu" which will be starting a half-hour earlier than usual (approximately 12:30 pm), since the full 3-act version of the work will be given at that time.

Another LIVE broadcast -- this one on internet radio -- is a performance from Stockholm of Puccini's "La Boheme." As usual with performances broadcast on Swedish Radio, this one should be available for listening for several days after the live broadcast.

Tomorrow (November 19) Humperdinck's most popular opera -- "Hansel & Gretel" -- will be performed at the Vienna State Opera, and ORF (Austria) will be broadcasting that performance on Saturday.

Last Saturday's performance from Paris of Rossini's "Zelmira" can be heard this Saturday on French Radio.

In case you missed it last summer, Wagner's "Das Rheingold" will be aired on German Radio, the performance being the one that took place this past July 27 in Bayreuth.

And in a lighter vein, Leonard Bernstein's "Candide" (originally performed on Broadway in 1956) makes it onto NPR's schedule for this Saturday. It's a performance from last summer's Glimmerglass Opera Festival.

Enjoy!
