Les Contes d'Hoffman

Offenbach's
Les Contes d'Hoffmann

The magnetic tenor Vittorio Grigolo takes on the tortured poet and unwitting adventurer of the title of Offenbach’s operatic masterpiece, in the Met’s wild, kaleidoscopic production. Hibla Gerzmava, Erin Morley, and Christine Rice sing the three heroines—each an idealized embodiment of some aspect of Hoffmann’s desire. Thomas Hampson portrays the shadowy Four Villains, and Yves Abel conducts the sparkling score.

OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE  D' AGUANNO

A LIVE broadcast of Rameau's opera-ballet "Platee" (1745) from Paris comes to us on French Radio this coming Saturday (October 3).

RAI Radio 3 has a May 23, 3015 performance on the agenda of Bernstein's operetta "Candide" (1956), as performed in Florence.

The Belgian station Klara will be broadcasting a recent performance of Wagner's "Tannhauser" from the Flemish Opera in Ghent.

And in case you missed it the first time around, Lithuanian composer Onute Narbutaite's "Cornet" -- in its world premiere performance in Vilnius on February 21, 2014 -- gets another airing on Swedish Radio this Saturday.

Enjoy!
